Strombidium Lagenula are protists belonging to the genus Strombidium, which contains approximately 31 species, and the family Oligotrich. They are marine-type protists and move using ciliate-type structures which extend from one end of their body. Strombidium and Strombidium Lagenula seem to have had cilia a long time ago. However, those in the Strombidium genus now have either no cilia, the cilia has gotten much smaller, or they have changed into bristles. Strombidium Lagenula were discovered in 1924 by Faure-Fremiet. They are spherical or bell-shaped and are a type of marine plankton.
